The H G Wells Short Story Competition is 10 years old this year and we are delighted to be able to say that we are going from strength to strength. Last year was our best ever year for entries which are proud to have received from across the globe.

As a previous entrant, we should like to invite you to submit a short story for the 2019 competition.

• Our theme this year is “Time”
• The story length is 1,500 to 5,000 words
• The closing date is midnight on Monday 8 July

There, you will also find our 2018 shortlist along with videos of our successful writers reading their work. We shall be uploading a new shortlisted story each month.
