HG Wells Short Story Competition 2016

Founded by the world-renowned BBC Aeronautics Correspondent Reg Turnill and his wife, Margaret, to celebrate the life and works of HG Wells and encourage creative writing, especially among the young, the prestigious HG Wells Short Story Competition offers generous Senior and Junior prizes and free publication of all shortlisted entries in a quality, professionally published paperback anthology (and Kindle version).

The theme for this year’s competition is SPACE in its broadest interpretation.

There are two categories: authors 21 years of age and under with a prize of £1000. (Entry is free).

Authors aged 22 years and above with a prize of £250 (entry £10 or £5 with student id).

Dates for your diary:

  • Sunday 17 July 2016 :  final date for entries
  • Wednesday 21 September 2016 : shortlists announced
  • Sunday 27 November 2016 : Awards Ceremony in Folkestone

Deadline for entries is Monday 10th July (11pm BST). Shortlist announcement Thursday 21st September. Winners to be announced Sunday 19th November.
